What does it mean to be a kid at heart?

Thereโs a moment Iโll never forget โ standing in the rain, shoes soaked, laughter echoing through the street. I wasnโt a child then, not by years or by the weight of responsibilities that had already settled on my shoulders. But that day, as puddles splashed beneath my feet, I realized something important: being a kid at heart isnโt about age. Itโs about wonder.
When weโre children, the world is a playground of possibilities. A stick becomes a sword, the sky a vast canvas of dreams, and every stranger a potential friend. Somewhere along the way, we trade that imagination for deadlines and to-do lists. But deep inside, the spark never truly goes out โ it just waits for a chance to flicker again.
To be a kid at heart is to see beauty where others see routine. Itโs laughing loudly at silly jokes, finding magic in the ordinary, and daring to dream without asking for permission. Itโs that spontaneous decision to dance while cooking or to lie on the grass watching clouds drift by โ naming each one after something you secretly wish for.
Sometimes, itโs hard to reconnect with that part of ourselves. Life teaches us caution, fear, and responsibility. But the child in us whispers, โDonโt forget to play.โ That whisper is what keeps our hearts light, our creativity alive, and our souls curious.
So, yes, I still splash in puddles sometimes. I still believe in miracles, talk to my coffee, and laugh until I canโt breathe. And I think thatโs what it truly means to be a kid at heart โ to keep believing, even when the world tells you to grow up.
Because growing up is inevitable.
But growing old inside? Thatโs optional.
