What is good about having a pet?

Thereβs something magical about coming home after a long, exhausting day and being greeted by a pair of eager eyes and an excited tail. My dog, Bruno, doesnβt care whether Iβve had a productive day or if my hair looks like itβs been through a storm β to him, I am simply home.
I never really understood what people meant when they said pets make life better until Bruno came trotting into mine β a clumsy ball of fur that chewed through slippers, cables, and my patience in equal measure. Yet, somehow, his presence began filling the quiet spaces of my day with laughter, warmth, and a strange kind of peace.
Having a pet isnβt just about cuddles or companionship β itβs about learning small lessons in love. The kind of love that doesnβt need words. Pets remind us of routines (those early morning walks that no alarm clock could enforce better), responsibility (feeding them before feeding ourselves), and joy (because somehow, they find it in the simplest things β a squeaky toy, a patch of sunlight, or just being near you).
On days when life feels too heavy, Bruno simply sits beside me, resting his head on my lap β no advice, no judgment, just quiet understanding. And sometimes, thatβs all anyone really needs.
So whatβs good about having a pet?
Everything. The messes, the memories, the unconditional love β all of it. Because a pet doesnβt just live with you; they teach you how to live better.
