Who are the biggest influences in your life?

When I think about influence, I donβt think of famous names or loud success stories. The biggest influences in my life never tried to shape me at all. They simply lived their livesβand I learned by watching.
The first influence was family.
Not through long speeches or strict lessons, but through everyday consistency. Showing up. Doing what needed to be done. Carrying responsibilities even when they were heavy. From them, I learned that strength often looks ordinary and love doesnβt always announce itself.
Then there were teachers and mentorsβsome who stayed only briefly, yet left lasting marks. A teacher who believed in me before I learned to believe in myself. A mentor who corrected me gently instead of loudly. They taught me that guidance doesnβt need controlβit needs patience.
Life itself became an influence too.
Failures taught me humility.
Unexpected detours taught me flexibility.
Silence taught me more than noise ever did.
Iβve also been deeply influenced by people who remained kind despite hardship. Those who had every reason to be bitter, yet chose compassion instead. Watching them taught me that character is revealed not when life is easy, but when itβs unfair.
And finally, Iβve been influenced by my own past selfβthe version of me that survived confusion, made mistakes, and kept going anyway. Looking back at who I was reminds me how far Iβve come and how much growth happens quietly, without celebration.
The biggest influences in my life didnβt push me forward.
They stood still long enough for me to learn how to move.
And for that, I carry their lessons with gratitudeβevery single day.
