When Time Slips Through Our Fingers

Do you need time?

โ€œSometimes, the best thing you can do is pause and breathe.โ€

There are days when time feels like a polite guest โ€” sitting quietly beside me, waiting to be noticed. And then there are days when itโ€™s a thief โ€” running faster than my breath, stealing moments I meant to hold on to.

This morning, as I sat with my half-finished coffee, I caught myself whispering, โ€œI just need a little more time.โ€
Time to think.
Time to feel.
Time to simply be.

Life has become a series of alarms and checklists. Every beep, every reminder is another demand โ€” โ€œHurry up!โ€ โ€œYouโ€™re late!โ€ โ€œDonโ€™t forget!โ€
And yet, what I really want to do is forget. Just for a while. Forget the clock, the deadlines, the constant motion of being โ€œproductive.โ€

When I was younger, time was endless โ€” stretched out like a summer afternoon. I could waste hours doing absolutely nothing, and it still felt full. Now, even a free weekend feels like itโ€™s slipping through my fingers before I can exhale.

Maybe thatโ€™s what growing up does to us โ€” we start measuring time instead of living in it.
But lately, Iโ€™ve been learning to pause.
To sit quietly with a cup of tea.
To listen to the hum of life outside my window.
To remind myself that needing time doesnโ€™t make me lazy โ€” it makes me human.

Because time isnโ€™t just something we spend โ€” itโ€™s something we share, with ourselves.

So today, if you find yourself overwhelmed, whisper it softly โ€” โ€œI need time.โ€
And give yourself permission to take it.
